Why I’m Learning Framer (While Still Loving Squarespace)

Recently, someone asked me:
“Isn’t it hard to keep up with all the changes in Squarespace, web design trends—and now learning Framer too? Why not just stick to one platform?”

Honestly? It’s a fair question.

Web design is constantly evolving. Platforms update their features, trends shift with user behaviour, and new tools like Framer emerge—offering completely different possibilities. It can feel like a lot to juggle.

But here’s why I think it’s not only worth it—but essential.

Why Ongoing Learning Matters

In a creative industry like web design, standing still isn’t really an option. I believe staying current is part of serving my clients well. Whether it’s a new layout feature in Squarespace, a smoother animation tool in Framer, or a broader shift in how users interact with websites—it all helps me make better design decisions.

Continual learning also keeps me inspired. New tools spark new ideas. They push me to think differently, experiment, and grow creatively. That’s not just good for me—it’s great for the clients who trust me to bring fresh thinking to their websites.

Squarespace vs Framer: Different Strengths

I still love working with Squarespace. It’s an excellent platform—especially for clients who want ease of use, elegant templates, and reliable support. It’s fast to build on, secure, and ideal for business owners who want a beautiful, functional site they can easily update themselves.

Framer, on the other hand, brings something very different to the table. It offers more creative freedom, animation potential, and a slick, ultra-modern feel. For brands who want to stand out with movement, interaction, and totally custom layouts—Framer is an exciting option.

It’s a designer’s playground—and I want to be fluent in it too.

It’s Not Either/Or—It’s About Options

For me, this isn’t about abandoning one platform for another. It’s about being able to offer the right tool for the right project.

Some clients will thrive with the structure and simplicity of Squarespace. Others might be ready to explore the creative edge that Framer offers.

Being able to design confidently on both means I can meet clients where they are—and help them grow into where they want to go.

What It All Comes Down To

At the end of the day, I’m not learning new tools just for the sake of it. I’m doing it because I care about delivering the best possible results to the people I work with.

And yes—it’s a lot. But it’s also what makes this work exciting, relevant, and rewarding.

(Oh, and I may have mentioned this once or twice… but I really do love everything about website design!)
